Shop Cold PacksThe test was conducted by the CAPs program of Wasatch High School in Heber in coordination with the UVU Campus in Heber. The engineering team in the CAPS program tested 5 brands of gel, as witnessed below. The gel packs were 24 ounce in size. The text in the legend under the graph that says 2023 Blend is Cold Pack’s product. As you can see it remained colder than the other brands by a significant amount. All tests were conducted in a controlled environment and all products were placed in identical corrugated boxes, without insulation. Here are the final comments from the engineering team.
The Cold Pack is 19.3% better at a +15 degree difference.
The Cold Pack is 27.6% better at a +10 degree difference.
Invest in high-quality insulation like foam or gel packs to keep the contents cold. Ensure the insulation is appropriate for the shipping duration and temperature requirements of your products.
Use cold packs or dry ice depending on the duration and temperature needs of the shipment. Cold packs are ideal for shorter trips, while dry ice is better for longer journeys or items that need to stay frozen.
Ensure your items are packed tightly to minimize air gaps, which can reduce the effectiveness of your cooling materials. Use sturdy, well-sealed containers to prevent leaks and maintain a consistent temperature.
Mark the package with clear labels indicating that it contains perishable goods and requires refrigeration. This helps ensure that handlers are aware of the special requirements and handle the package appropriately.
Choose expedited shipping options when possible to minimize the time your package spends in transit. Track shipments to ensure they are moving efficiently and address any delays promptly to maintain temperature control.
Remove from the box and freeze at or below -10F for a minimum of 5 days. If you freeze the product in the box, it may take up to 20 days to completely freeze the Cold Pack.
